Welcome!
Our names are Chuck and Stephanie, and we were married in September, 2008. We have enjoyed cruising, mainly on Princess Cruise Line. After living in Florida for many years, where it was very easy and convenient (read: inexpensive) for us to travel from cruise ports in Florida, especially Ft. Lauderdale, we now live in South Carolina. Now, we no longer have as many good opportunities to take advantage of cruising without the additional expense of airfare. or long drives. It is now a ten hour drive to the ports in South Florida. However, it has not hampered our cruising, we just need to adjust to the difference.
Initially, we started with Eastern Caribbean Cruises, then we progressed to transatlantic cruises, which provide us with several “sea” days while crossing the Atlantic Ocean. We really enjoy the relaxed time on board the ship during the days at sea.
We have expanded our travels to include land based trips to Europe, which allow us a different perspective from cruising. One main advantage is the ability to be in travel destination cities at night to experience visiting cities after dark, something you rarely get the change to do on a cruise when you are usually departing the ports before sunset. Land based trips also eliminate the need to precisely plan shore excursions, you are not “on the clock” to disembark and embark from the ship on typical eight hour port calls.
Of course, with the land based trips,you go through the effort of finding hotels for all of the nights of the trip, unlike returning to the comfort and familiarity of your ship’s cabin. Plus, there is the constant packing and repacking of the suitcases during short overnight hotel stays.
However, we enjoy both forms of travel, and welcome the varied experiences and adventure they both offer.
