Sea Day 6 – April 23, 2016

It has been our good fortune to have tremendous weather on this crossing of the Atlantic Ocean.   Once again, we had clear skies today, with light winds and fairly warm temperatures.  We have used so much of our warmer weather clothing, we have had to submit two bags of dirty clothes to the ship’s laundry service.  Thankfully, it is a free benefit of our Elite status on Princess.  The only issue is that it takes about two days to get the laundry back, so we need to anticipate what we plan on wearing so that we have some clean clothes available while the others are in the laundry.

Calm Seas and Sunny Skies

We had a pretty fun night last night so we did not get up early, and once again, we lost another hour as we approach Europe.  That is just a bad combination.

We barely made it to the buffet in time for breakfast, which normally ends at about 11:30 AM.  In fact, I had some eggs for breakfast along with some rotisserie chicken that was part of the lunch buffet.

After breakfast, and the normal time for room cleaning, we went back to the room to put on our bathing suits and sunscreen.  We are anticipating that this will be the last day of warmer weather, at least warm enough to sit out in the sun.  Tomorrow, we are in Ponte Delgado, Azores, and the high temperature is forecast to be about 66 degrees.

We did have to find a wind protected area out on the open decks as the relative wind from the ship movement was greater today since the real wind was fairly light.  The seas were the calmest yet, there were no white caps to be seen.

We sat out in the sun for a few hours before it got a little cooler and some clouds appeared.  We headed down to the Atrium and did a little bit of shopping, trying to utilize some of our ship board credit.  We bought a couple of things from the gift shop, and Stephanie bought some Clinique makeup from the perfumery.

We headed back to the room to get ready for dinner in the Symphony Dining Room, the selections on the menu were to our liking, so we decided we would go there for dinner.  Once we were ready, we headed to Vines for a glass of wine while we were waiting to be paged for dinner.

We had requested Rebeca, the same waiter we had a couple of nights ago.  She and her assistant were very nice, attentive, and efficient.

We had to wait about 45 minutes, so we did not get to the dining room until about 8:15 PM, but luckily, we had gotten some Tapas in Vines as a pre-dinner appetizer.

Dinner was quite good, Stephanie had the seafood skewer, and I had the surf and turf.  We enjoyed some wine with our dinner, one of our favorites, Zen of Zen’s Zinfandel.

After dinner, we headed to see all of our friends at the Crooners Bar.  We did not stay long, knowing we would be in port tomorrow in the Azores.  We had not been getting up early during our run of 6 consecutive sea days, but our plan was to get a wake up call at 6:30 AM tomorrow morning so we could get off the ship at about 8:00 AM, and head to the Catholic Church for 10:00 AM Mass.
