Sea Day 8 – April 26, 2016

Today is our last sea day before we visit three consecutive ports.  Of course, we chose to sleep in a little, but not too late since we are trying to acclimate to getting up early for the port days.  The weather was much cooler today, and windy, with mostly sunny skies.

We went to the buffet for breakfast, and then went to the Atrium area to visit some of the stores.  Were are still trying to figure out how to use our remaining ship board credit.  We have found a few items that are possibilities, things that we might have gotten in a regular store at home anyway.  Stephanie did purchase a knit hat since it is forecast to be colder than we had anticipated in the ports.

We headed to lunch around noon, and then headed out on deck in the stern of the ship to visit Rupi at the Outrigger Bar.  The crew was all bundled up in their jackets, and had been brought some gloves and stocking hats to keep warm.  We did not stay long, it was too windy and cold.  The noon weather report from the bridge had said the temperature was 46 degrees.

We headed back inside and went to the onboard jewelry shop to look at some watches that Stephanie had seen.  The one she liked from Tag was much, much more expensive than our remaining ship board credits.

We spent some time resting in the room before heading out for a late afternoon refreshment at the Crooners Bar.

We did not stay long since we needed to get ready for the Captain’s Circle Reception that started at 6:00 PM.  We also have plans for dinner in the Crown Grill tonight at 6:30 PM.

We sat in the back of the Vista Lounge for the reception since we had to leave early for dinner.

Dinner at the Crown Grill was good, the service was much better than the other night we had eaten there, we sort of were there between some earlier and later reservations, so about halfway through our dinner, we had the area to ourselves, and so the waitstaff were not busy.

I had the Sea Bass and Stephanie had a Pork Chop.  Both were great.

We headed to the Crooners Bar, but there was not a lot going on, people were obviously either in shows, or were already in for the evening with the port call tomorrow.  We were full from dinner, so we only had one drink before we headed back to the room to get a good nights sleep.

We set a 6:15 AM wake up call so that we could be ready for getting off the ship at 8:00 AM.  We put together all of the items we will be taking with us, and set the GPS out on the balcony to try and get it to locate itself.  It always take a long time when we travel far from where it had previously acquired any satellites.  It finally synchronized after taking several minutes.

Our plan for tomorrow is to walk to the Enterprise Car rental about a half mile from the port, rent a car and head to the D-Day Beaches.

It will be hard for us to keep up the posts for the next couple of days since we will be in port all day, and we will not have a lot of time to make the posts.
