Trip Postponed Due To Covid-19 – August 10, 2020

Most of Europe is no longer on lockdown, and the Covid-19 virus has slowed in most European countries.  Unfortunately, the USA has not adopted a centralized plan to control the spread of the virus, and we are now the most infected country, and getting worse by the day.

Travel to Europe from the USA has been banned by the European Union because of infection rates in the USA.  It will probably remain that way because the USA did not adopt a centralized governmental approach to controlling the virus, and it has really spread here, and deaths are over 160,000.

It is unlikely that we will be able to travel to Europe any time soon unless an effective vaccine is developed.  We are discouraged that other countries have been able to curtail the spread of the virus after having been in lockdown, but the USA is not taking it serious, and that shows a degree of selfishness, especially by the younger generation here.

The virus has been so politicized here that there was never a chance to keep it under control.  It is shameful that people think that it is not a problem here when there has been so many unnecessary deaths.  We will continue to monitor the situation and try to keep this trip on the horizon.  It is unfortunate, this would be a great time to be in Europe, all of the most crowded tourist sights are empty, and it would be like Europe of old before tourism took over.

For now, this trip is being postponed for at least a year.  We will look at the situation with the Covid-19 pandemic in late 2020 or early 2021, and if things improve, we will start planning this trip once again.
