We will be starting out on our adventure in just three days from today. We are about 80% packed, and all of the other items are out waiting to be put in the suitcases nearer to departure day, most likely on Thursday night. Then we will make the final weigh in, and hopefully be under the 50 pound airline weight limit. If not, we will just move a few items over to the carry-on bags.

We are both starting to get excited, although we both still have a lot of things to do at our jobs this week. There always has to be something that gets in the way!!

Looks like the weather will be nice for our departing flight, our connection in Atlanta, and for our short stay in Los Angeles/San Pedro. The weather report for the port calls for temperatures to be in the mid 70’s, actually a little warmer than the forecast at home in Florida.

We have been taking another round of ballroom dance classes over the past few weeks, a repeat class from last winter. It really made a difference, we were more at ease, and were able to get the steps down much better than the first round. We took classes through a high school Community Education program, and really enjoyed it this time. Our instructor, Helen, and her husband Joe were great. Hopefully they will be able to follow along on our trip through the blog postings. If so, hello to Helen and Joe. We are nervously looking forward to trying out the four dances we learned during some of the formal nights on the ship, they typically set up the bands specifically for ballroom dancing on those nights. It will be different to actually be out on the floor with more dancers, hopefully we will stay out of their way!! I am sure after trying the first time, we will gain some confidence, but as we were kidding about last night, we can always blame it on the moving ship if we have a miss-step.

Just a few more things to take care of before our Friday departure, and we will be ready to go. Hopefully, we will be able to post some live progress during our travel to Los Angeles, at least while waiting in the airport at home or in Atlanta.

This will probably be the last posting until Friday when we leave. Not really too many interesting things to do now, just get everything packed in the suitcase, make sure we have our passports, credit cards, and boarding passes, and off we go.

  1. I’m going to need to see a video of Stephanie dancing like that! That girl has 2 left feet, she has a hard time walking, LOL! Have a great trip kids, can’t wait to see some pictures when you get there. safe travels!

    • Actually, we are not too bad, or everyone else was klutzes. Now we just have to figure out which dances go with which songs, other than the waltz. Probably will have to watch to see what others do. Thanks. PS You were our first commenter, congratulations.

  2. Dear Children,

Thanks for the cal letting me know that you arrived safely. By now it is 3:50 PM, our time, and I suppose you are boarding the ship.

    BON VOYAGE,

    Love,
    Mom
