Sea Day 3

Today is another Sea Day before we arrive in Cartagena, Colombia tomorrow.

We both slept in again this morning, I was up at about 7:30 AM and decided to take a shower to help me wake up.  Also, I was feeling a little congested this morning, and my throat was a little scratchy.  I could not tell if it was some type of cold or not, maybe just the dry air from the constantly running air conditioning in the room.  The shower helped me to feel a little better.  I guess time will tell if I have picked up something or not, but we are now on our fifth day of travel, just enough time for illnesses to start showing up after a reasonable incubation period from our travel day last Saturday.

At least this is a sea day, and we can relax.  If it happens to be something, we will have to see what happens from here.  Tomorrow we are on an included ship’s excursion, so if we need to cancel last minute, it is not an issue.  However, the following day after that is our longest and most expensive excursion to see the Panama Canal from land, and it is already too late to cancel.

I headed down to the Living Room Bar for a coffee and muffin while Stephanie slept in a little longer.  I was hoping the hot coffee would help my scratchy throat.  Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong coffee, I ordered an espresso and meant to order a Latte.  Normally, I have a Cappuccino, but I wanted something different.  I drank some of the espresso, mainly not to look dumb for ordering the wrong thing, but then I just ordered a Cappuccino and it was much better.  At least the blueberry muffin was good, it was not dry like the one I had the other day.

I worked on the blog until about 8:35 AM, catching up on last night’s activities and then this morning’s so far.

I headed back to the cabin to wake up Stephanie so we could both go to breakfast.  After she got ready we headed up to the World Cafe for breakfast.  Even after breakfast, I was not feeling any better.  We decided to try and do a load of laundry today. so I headed to the Laundromat to see if there were any available washers while Stephanie got the laundry together in the room.  There are only four washers and four driers on our deck and they were all being used.  I sent Stephanie a text to let her know that two of the washers only had about 12 minutes remaining on their cycle.  Stephanie finally headed down to the Laundromat and we waited for someone to arrive for one of those washers so we could use one after it was done.  Several people came to the Laundromat, but none were for those two washers, one of which was now done.  We waited a bit more and then Stephanie took out that finished load and put it in one of the baskets provided by Viking.  It was literally only a load of about six pairs of socks.

We added our clothes and started the washer and set a timer so we knew when to come back.

We headed back to the cabin to wait, and I just felt like getting into the bed to rest.  I till my temperature and it said I had a slight fever.

Stephanie took care of the laundry, going back to add the clothes to the dryer after the wash cycle was done.  While the clothes were drying Stephanie went for a walk and I still continued to rest.

Once all of the laundry was done, it was time to go to lunch in the World Cafe.  There was a Mexican Fiesta lunch theme and it was actually pretty good.

After lunch, we headed back to the cabin to put on some sunscreen and head up to the pool on Deck 7 at the stern to enjoy some time in the sunshine.  It was warm, but there were enough clouds passing by to help out to make it bearable.  I was feeling a little better, the extra resting had helped.

At about 5:00 PM we both headed back to the cabin to get showers.  We were planning to go to an early dinner and just spend the evening resting.  We did figure out that we could stream our DirectTV on the computer and watch some of the bowl games that way.  Viking is terrible about having any live football, or even any sports at all on their TV.

Dinner was enjoyable in the World Cafe Buffet, it was certainly all we were up for tonight.  After dinner, we went back to the cabin and watched a couple of different football games via streaming on my laptop.  We will be in Cartagena, Columbia tomorrow and are supposed to be doing an included excursion at 8:10 AM.  We got everything ready for that but we discussed skipping it if either one of us feel bad in the morning.

I still have a slight fever, but am continuing to take Tylenol to keep it under control.  Stephanie wanted me to take one of the COVID rapid tests we brought, so I did, and it was negative, which was good.  I don’t feel terrible, but feel tired and a little achy, but both are tolerable.  Hopefully, it will pass quickly and more importantly, I hope it is not something that Stephanie catches, but with the size of the cabin, it is hard to keep any distance.

We headed to sleep at 10:00 PM. It was nice to have a relaxing evening.
