Post Trip Summary And Information

We thought we would post some information about our cruise.  Princess provided us with a nice “log Of The Cruise” so we will share some of the interesting data.

Total Distance Traveled From Civitavecchia To Ft. Lauderdale – 4,925 Nautical Miles (NM) or 5,668 Statute Miles (SM)

Total Distance Traveled From Ponta Delgada to Ft. Lauderdale – 2,882 NM or 3,314 SM.  This was the single longest distance we traveled without stopping over the last six sea days.

Average Speed From Ponta Delgada to Ft. Lauderdale – 18.21 knots or 21 mph

We had four days of Force 6 Winds (Beaufort Scale) on the Crossing, which equates to winds of about 25-31 mph.

The average large cruise ship gets about 50 feet per gallon of fuel burned, so, based on 5,669 total miles at 5,280 feet per mile, the ship covered 29,928,000 feet and burned about 598,000 gallons of fuel.

We have rearranged the posts sot that they are now in order from oldest to newest.  Typical blogs have the latest post last so you always see the latest post first, but after the trip is over, it is awkward to read that way.

We have also loaded up photos for all of the posts and have added photos to the various photo albums.  We may add more photos to the albums, but the limited time and internet speed made uploading photos during the trip very time consuming.

This will probably be our last long duration cruise for a while.  We may look at an inexpensive 7 day Caribbean cruise if the price is a great deal.  We have had enough cruising for a while with the two transatlantic cruises this year.  They are fun and generally relaxing, but it is time for a break.

Our next adventure will probably be a three week land trip back to Italy starting in the north at Milan, visiting Cinque Terre and Portofino, visiting the Tuscany area, and then going southward to Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast and ending up in Rome.  The flights are better out of Rome, and there was one specialty tour we need to schedule in a while in advance, the Scavi Tour of the ruins being excavated under St. Peter’s.  This was already fully booked when we made the plan for this trip to Rome.  Plus, there are still other things we dd not have time to do in Rome, such as visit the Catacombs.

Bon Voyage For This Trip!

Chuck & Stephanie
