Sea Day 9 – Wednesday, April 12, 2017

The seas have been much calmer since we entered the English Channel yesterday.  We are closer to land, and the English Channel is more protected from the winds.  When we woke up this morning, the weather was similar to the past couple of days, much cooler, mostly cloudy, but less windy.

We set a wake up call for 7:30 AM, but did not really get going until almost 8:30 AM.  We ate our usual breakfast sandwiches in the room while we were getting ready.  Once we left the room, we headed out to find somewhere quiet so Stephanie could read and I could work on the blog posts and try and to upload some images to the Photo Albums.  We are in good shape on internet time, we still have all 250 minutes of Stephanie’s time remaining.  We have used all but a couple of minutes of my initial 250 allotment, one of our Elite Captain’s Circle benefits.

We found some open chairs in the Crooners Bar, but it was not easy, everyone is forced to be inside on cooler sea days, and the large sitting area there was almost full.  We found two open seats near the exterior windows, but it was quite cool there next to the glass.  After a while, we were able to move to some other seats not as close to the windows, and it was much warmer.  We were there for about ninety minutes and got a lot accomplished, but the ship’s internet was really slow, probably due to the number of passengers using it since everyone is stuck inside.

We headed up for lunch in the buffet, and then just wandered around the ship during the afternoon, playing some cards and reading.  Just another relaxing day at sea before we start three consecutive port days.

In the late afternoon, we headed down to Vines for some tapas and wine.  We had met a gentlemen there several days ago, Chris from Los Angeles, and we had a fun discussion about being Catholic, and the upcoming conclusion to the Lenten season.   We sort of lost track of the time and realized that we were running a little late in getting ready to attend the Captain’s Circle Party tonight.  Luckily, it was not a formal night, so we were able to get ready quickly, and make it to the event on time.  It never really gets started at the scheduled time, they serve drinks and appetizers for quite a while before the actual presentations by the Captain and some of the staff.  We enjoy the presentations, they discuss upcoming cruise itinerary changes, and also talk about new ships being built or scheduled to be built in the next few years.

After the event was over, we headed up to the Horizon Court Buffet for some dinner.  It was Italian Night in the buffet, and they had quite a selection of pastas and other Italian delights.

After dinner, we headed down to the Wheelhouse Bar and spent about an hour there visiting with the usual gang we have met on board during the cruise, and discussing everyone’s plans for our port day in Le Havre, France, tomorrow.

It was going to be an early wake up call tomorrow at 6:30 AM, so we did not stay out late, and headed back to the cabin around 10:00 PM to get some of  our port day items together, and pack our backpacks.  We are scheduled to get a rental car at the port terminal at about 8:00 AM tomorrow, and head north to Etretat and then south down to Honfleur.

After getting everything ready for tomorrow, we called it a night
