We have just one week to go before we board the Royal Princess for the two Caribbean cruises.
We have made reservations for independent island tours in three of our destinations, St. Lucia, Dominica, and Bonaire. We will be on our own for the remainder of our stops, using either taxi’s or local bus transportation to visit some of the sights on those islands.
In St. Lucia, we have a reservation for an island wide tour with a company called Cosol Tours. In Dominica, we will also be going on an island tour with a company called Nature Island Explorers. Lastly, in Bonaire, we will be going on a sailing/snorkel tour through a company called Compass Bonaire. The sailing will be on a sloop, different from the “normal” catamarans used in most islands. There will only be 14 passengers on the sailboat, so it should be a lot of fun.
We have started our packing effort, mainly putting together our casual and formal dining outfits, which requires the most coordination. The remainder will be shorts, T-shirts and bating suits. It will be nice to pack for an entire trip without having to worry about any cooler weather like we had on the last cruise, which makes the packing just more difficult, finding the balance between cooler and warmer weather outfits. This is warm weather for the duration, thank goodness.
It will also be nice not to have to worry about weight restrictions, another benefit of driving versus flying. We will still try and fit everything in the suitcases without the expansion feature just to make things more manageable, but always have that as an option. Since we are also taking our snorkel gear, we have to make sure room is set aside for that.
Our electronic gear is always more than most anyone would take, but from that we get a lot of memorable photos, and have the ability to write these posts during the trip.
