It was nice knowing we did not have to get up for an early flight today, our first flight to Dallas Ft.-Worth Airport does not depart until 4:41 PM. Today we are making an unscheduled stop in Fournier Bay. We have been able to cross the Drake Passage quicker than scheduled, so we will be stopping in Fournier Bay starting about 1:00 PM this afternoon. Today our stop is on Elephant Point, named because of the Elephant Seals that reside there, along with some Gentoo penguins. Today we are at Half Moon Island, which is a Chinstrap Penguin and Fur Seal habitat. Chinstrap penguins have a small black line under their chins, hence the “chinstrap” name. Yesterday, we mostly only saw Gentoo Penguins on Elephant Island, as well as the fur seals and elephant seals. Today we stopped an an area called Mikkelsen Harbour. Like many of the areas we have been, it was used by whalers to process their catch of whales.
